JOB SUMMARY

To be responsible for multiple technical functions within the HIM department for the proper processing and maintenance of patient records, knowledge of federal, state, and regulatory regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following. Others may be assigned.

• 
  
  Ensuring timely delivery of patient records to the appropriate departments.
• 
  
  Ensures medical record is complete by filing medical documentation into the record.
• 
  
  Assists in answering phones and directs to the correct person as needed.
• 
  
  Assists with release of information.
• 
  
  Works to ensure chart completion by assembly, analysis, and completion up keep.
• 
  
  Retrieves and delivers patient records for continuance of patient care and audit requests.
• 
  
  Assists in purging old records.
• 
  
  Responsible for the proper maintenance of the permanent medical record files.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Includes minimum education, technical training, and/or experience required to perform the job.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2-3 years business office or related HIM experience
