Electronic Technician
3 month minimum contract work in McGregor, TX
We are currently seeking individuals of varying experience levels to fill Electronic Technician positions for McGregor, TX site. Electronic Technicians play a large role in the setup and testing of avionics components and assemblies for spacecraft and launch vehicles. Technicians are responsible for executing and recording tests on assemblies developed or purchased by our client.
Responsibilities:
Electronic Technicians work in a fast-paced environment, supporting a variety of propulsion and structural systems tests. Specific responsibilities associated with this job include:
Complete necessary instrumentation of test stands, wiring and data acquisition systems including but not limited to:
o Assemble and install prototype, developmental, prototype/experimental and production electrical and electronic assembly units, sub units, boards, wire harnesses and cables associated with propulsion products
o Install connectors, connector pins, terminals and lugs
o Perform continuity checks, locate and correct wiring errors using measuring instruments such as ohmmeters and sequential continuity checkers
o Lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies developmental and production electrical and electronic units, assemblies, components, parts, equipment, and systems
o Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance
Connect, verify and specify the range of pressure transducers, thermocouples and other sensors
Set up and specification of power supplies for sensor excitation voltages
Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints and engineering sketches
Perform layout and wiring of electrical panels
Perform work in support of fellow electronic technicians and engineering employees using shop assembly equipment and hand tools
Collaborate with design engineers to troubleshoot failures and issues derived from test data
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
Education & Experience Requirements:
Associates degree in Electronics, preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent GED required
Some experience in the space exploration industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment is highly preferred
Entry level positions available and training provided for all job responsibilities, experience in electronics highly preferred
o Mechanical aptitude and experience (work with machines and general tooling)
o Formalized mechanical training, skilled in hand and power tool usage
o A demonstrated experience where quick-thinking and problem solving plays a critical role
Applicants should have demonstrated a strong propensity for hands-on work and attention to detail.
Other specific requirements or desired skills are as follows:
General requirements:
Training and/or experience in basic operation of an oscilloscope & multimeter, soldering wires & connectors, operation of various crimping tools, wire stripping, ohms law, continuity testing, pinning out a military type connector, routing & tie wrapping cables, drilling & tapping holes, and building junction boxes
Knowledge in signal conditioning concepts for various types of sensors, to include the following:
o Thermocouple Types K,S, and E
o TC bonding concepts: resistance weld on and adhesive bond on types
o TC probes thru thermowell sheaths
o Cold Junction compensation concepts
Expertise with any of the following instrumentation: Resistance Temperature Devices (RTDs), silicon diode temperature devices, strain gauges, load cells, displacement transducers, pressure transducers
Knowledge in Data Acquisition concepts, hardware, and interfacing (PC and PXI based)
Background should include experience with the following devices:
o DC power supplies
o Configuration of IP based devices (power supplies, cameras, computers)
o DC-DC convertors
o IP and Analog cameras
o Wired and wireless intercom systems
o Antenna installations
o UPS installations
o Heat shrink tubing, cable harnessing, lacing, and proper strain relief concepts
A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical manuals and reports
Use of precision measuring instruments
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to work with design engineers to develop and document set up and test procedures
Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
Software/Computer Skills and Required Skill Level:
Windows Operating Systems, Intermediate
Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook. OneNote), Intermediate
Physical requirements:
The ability to work in a high-stress environment

A positive, upbeat attitude
General physical fitness is required for some work areas, flight hardware typically is built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required, also the ability to lift heavy objects is required in this position >50lbs
Ability to work at elevated heights
Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments heat, cold, rain
Work Hours and Conditions:
Typically 50 hour work weeks, schedule varies depending on site operational needs, flexibility required
Overtime is frequently required for particular tasks or test series
