Thisposition is located at the VA Medical Center in Fargo, ND under the Chief,Environmental & Material Management Service and Logistics Officer. Yourduties can include but are not limited to the following:

 

- Manages andcontrols all time cards for employees and compensated work therapy and workstudy candidates for multiple departments.

- Maintainsfund control accounts, contracts, sharing agreements and cost centers in anaccounting and procurement data base system.

- Developsmethods and formats for automating various administrative reports andprocesses.

- Processesincoming and outgoing documents such as correspondence, reports, memoranda andother forms of written communications.

- Independentlymanages and prioritizes own workload and workflow to meet established officegoals and deadlines.

- Compilesweekly, monthly and quarterly reports to ensure ongoing hospital/departmentcompliance.

 

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am- 4:30pm

TYPING PROFICIENCY: Thisposition requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting theexperience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40words per minute.

 

GS-6:SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year of specialized experience that equips you with theknowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of theposition. To be creditable for the GS-06 the experience must have beenequivalent to the GS-05 in Federal service. Examples of experience includes: Experiencewith Microsoft Office such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.;Preparing correspondence for signature to include composing, grammar, formatand editing; Advising supervisor of office issues during their absence andbrings significant items in reports, files and correspondence to theirattention; Scheduling and maintaining appointments, coordinating meetingsand/or arranged conferences to include travel arrangements; Compiling weekly,monthly and quarterly reports; Maintains subject matter files and recordkeeping systems. A full year of work isconsidered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will becredited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearlythe nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the numberof hours a week spent in such employment.

 

Youwill be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics(KSAOs) as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:

- Ability to use office automationsystems.

 

- Knowledge of office procedures,filing systems and various reference guides and handbooks.

 

- Ability toreview written material for compliance with rules of correspondence andgrammar.

- Ability towork independently, plan and execute work, set priorities, organize work andmeet deadlines.

- Ability toeffectively communicate in person and in writing.

PHYSICALDEMANDS: Work will require long periods of sitting. It doesrequire some walking and carrying of such items as office files and supplies.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Applicants will be ranked based on four quality groups, as follows:

  • Best qualified - applicants possessing experience that substantially exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position;
  • Highly qualified - applicants possessing experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job;
  • Well qualified - applicants possessing experience that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in some, but not all, of the requirements of the job; and
  • Qualified - applicants possessing experience and/or education that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors.

After the vacancy announcement closes, reviewed applications are evaluated against the questionnaire responses and placed in the appropriate quality group.  Qualified veterans will be afforded preference by being placed at the top of the appropriate quality group.  Qualifying veterans with a service-connected disability of 10% or more will be placed at the top of the best qualified group.  The best qualified group is the first to be referred to the hiring facility for further consideration and possible interview.  The remaining groups may be referred based on the number of applicants available.
