Job Description
Service Technician II will assist in the installation, removal, repairs and maintenance of customer equipment on the well site onshore and offshore. The Service Technician II has a deep working knowledge of wellhead and other interfacing equipment including service tools. Service Technician II has the ability to run multi-bowl and multi string equipment with supervision.Including but not limited to:
Perform All Duties of Service Technician I:
- Prepare JSA (Job Safety Analysis) on job site and perform all duties in a safe manner.
- Safely install, remove, repair and service customer equipment on the well site.
- Perform valve lubrication, valve repair, wellhead improvements with the ability to run high pressure lubricator (PBMO) to set various size back pressure valves and two way check.
- Maintain Weir Seaboard company vehicle, service tools and any other equipment in a clean, ready to use state.
- Prepare accurate field service and rental tickets in a clean and legible way.
- Promote Weir Seaboard in field service, sales, maintain a professional appearance and work attitude.
- Provide technical expertise and direction to well site supervisor and rig crew.
- Pre check all equipment on the well site before installation to insure all equipment is correct and all accessories are on location ready to install.
- Be receptive to and able to understand training received on related installation processes and safety procedures.
- Must have the ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Must be available on 24 hour call to respond to customer needs.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Comply with all applicable, safety, health, quality and environmental regulations.
- The ability to run control line if needed.
- Provides proper care and maintenance of all shop tools, equipment, and work area.
- Assists with customers as needed.
- Performs other routine duties per supervisors instructions.
- Operate Company vehicle with all necessary tools and equipment and keeps company vehicle in compliance with applicable Company policy and / or DOT regulations.
- Accept responsibility to assist other branches as required.
- Capable of running all equipment exposed as service tech level I - solo
- Equipment trouble shooting - solo
- Capable of field equipment repairs - solo
- The ability to complete / de-complete single completions with or without control line - solo
- H2S, Rigging, Safe Gulf/Safe Land, water survival (needed for Gulf work), TWIC (needed for Gulf work), firefighting and Safe Start training.
- The ability to identify stud, nut, ring gasket size for flange end connections.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma / general education degree (GED) or two to five years wellhead experience with onshore or offshore installations.
Language Skills
Ability to read, write, and speak in the English language.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of
American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Bill of Material (BOM), running procedures, sales order interpretation and the ability to read and understand machine detail drawings.
Other Skills and Abilities
Valid drivers license (may require CDL). Must have acceptable driving record upon completion of MVR check.
Must have mechanical and hydraulic aptitude. Ability to operate high pressure torque wrenches, hammer wrench, jib cranes, overhead cranes, forklift and be able to do rigging work in a safe manner. Must be able to use power tools, hand tools, swing sledge hammer and use measuring devices such as micrometers, tape measure, rulers, scale and pressure gauges with chart recorder.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and inclement outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including steel toed safety shoes and safety glasses, in all areas of the facility and on well site locations. May have to work with chemicals and high pressure equipment.
