DIRECTOR OF SHARED ENGINEERING SERVICES ~ ENGINEERING DIRECTOR

** This position is located in Thief River Falls, MN **

SUMMARY for Director of Shared Engineering Services:  The Director of Shared Services Engineering is a key member of the Snowmobile and ATV/ROV engineering teams.  This individual unifies, aligns, leads, directs and is responsible for certain services that both Snowmobile and ATV/ROV Engineering utilize. While the direct reporting structure is to the VP/GM of Snowmobiles, this person also has a dotted line to the VP/GM of ATV/ROV. Areas of shared services  that will be under this person’s responsibility include; Emissions Group, NVH Group, Plastics Styling Group, Documentation Services, and Prototype Shop.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for Director of Shared Engineering Services:

 

Responsible for all Shared Services component development, testing and validation

All required testing is planned, designed, requested, completed, analyzed and released on a timely basis.

Continually assist the Director of ATV/ROV Engineering and the Director of Snowmobile Engineering to improve the product development process for quickest market entry with improved quality, competitive features, and least cost.

Supervise assigned engineers, designers, technicians, and contract workers.

Hire personnel as approved and budgeted.  Responsible for all personnel status changes.

Manage the Shared Services responsibilities through coordination with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, marketing, service, service parts & accessories, and various appropriate engine suppliers.

Master schedule adherence

Corporate objectives support

Establish personnel and procedures to aggressively promote VA/VE and continually review designs for cost effectiveness, material strengths, manufacturing efficiency, and maximum quality.

10.  Establish and control budgets based on the product plan

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS for Director of Shared Engineering Services:

Demonstrated experience in strategic planning with great execution

Ability to guide and energize multiple engineering departments

Previous experience successfully managing project scheduling, financial tracking and directing resources

Working knowledge of engineering standards and best practices

Ability to build relationships and lead cross functional teams

Demonstrated and accomplished leader of people

Very high level of energy that leads by example

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE for Director of Shared Engineering Services:

  1.  B.S. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

  2.  15 years experience in recreational product engineering- program management
