Veterinary Medical Officer (Clinical Care) at Grand Forks

JOB SUMMARY:

US Army Veterinary Services operates as a subsidiary of Public Health Command.  Their mission is to provide military veterinary services in support of United States Army Medical Command and Department of Defense missions.  The civilian function of the Veterinary Services is a supplemental mission which exists to assist soldiers and their families in the field of animal health and care.

This is a FLEX/Intermittent position with the Grand Forks AFB Veterinary Treatment Facility. Flexible employees serve in a continuing position on a scheduled or as-needed basis.

 

Work schdule to be determined after hire. Saturday shifts may be required. No holidays, shift work or TDY.

 

Please Note: Salary is pro-rated for 40 hours per week. Pay will depend on actual hours worked. Hourly salary is $35.69 to $40.00.

Performs professional veterinary work that involves the maintenance of wellness in a population of privately owned animals. Executes duties in accordance with standardized initiatives and policies. May perform medical care and treatment or surgery. Maintains records in accordance with local and command policy.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Back to top

Must possess a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), obtained at a school or college of veterinary medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA).

 

Must be state licensed to practice veterinary medicine and have the ability to obtain a license within the state that the position is to be filled.

 


A degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), obtained at a school or college of veterinary medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA).

Conditions of employment:

1. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

2. 4. Ability to work Saturday shifts may be required.

5. A pre-employment physical will need to be favorably completed within 30 days of entrance on duty.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Minimum Qualifications, Experience in Veterinary Science, Animal Diagnostics, and Medical Documentation.

 

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid experience or volunteer work.

 

Applicants meeting the best qualified criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official. All other applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is returned with no selection.

 

Applicants that have indicated they are not available for the weekend/shift duty outlined in this announcement will not be referred and considered ineligible for consideration.
