Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is looking to add a Network Engineer to our team in Yakima, Washington. We are seeking an individual with a background in IT and Project Management. This is the senior position in the technology infrastructure area of the IS Department.

Network Engineer (Network / IT)

Job Responsibilities

As our Network Engineer with a background in IT and Project Management, you will be assuring that the servers, data are secure.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Applying advanced principles and theories in planning, designing, and developing all networks: local area (LANs), wide area (WANs), VOIP and wireless across the organization
  • Providing technical expertise in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all devices, software, and communication links on the network
  • Leading in the analysis and resolution of all equipment/hardware and software issues in a timely and accurate fashion

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any combination of education, industry standard certification (CCNP) and proven skills and ability.
  • 8 to 10 years of work experience; knowledge of Traffic Shaping, Virtual Gateway Protocol, and ASA Firewalls.

Additional requirements include:

  • Experience in setting up disaster recovery sites, particular extending over layer 2 over layer 3 (OVT - Overlay Transport Virtualization)
  • Strong hands-on technical knowledge of network, server, sub-netting, filtering and PC operation systems including VLAN,WLAN,WAN,DMZ,TCP/IP and other protocols
  • Functional experience with Cisco equipment is a must, particularly the Nexus platform and 6500 core switching
  • Familiar with Network Control System (NCS) wireless technology.
  • Experience/knowledge of Virtual Gateway Protocol (VGP).
  • Experience in taking a leadership role by facilitating effective team interactions, and teaching/assisting other technical staff that are in a more junior role
  • Excellent senior level hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of applicable data security practices (HIPPA), laws and best practice security configurations
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to conduct research into issues and products as required
  • Ability to work in a fun, team-oriented and collaborative environment
  • Ability to work after-hours, as position may require evening or weekend work. On call one week per month. If there is a major networking problem, the employee might be called in after-hours to address the issue.
  • Current Washington/Oregon state drivers license and proof of automobile liability insurance coverage
