Environmental Health and Safety Professional at Fargo

Job Description

Labor Ready is currently seeking qualified applicants for an Environmental Health and Safety Professional, located in Valley City, ND . This is a temporary position with a long term opportunity for the best candidate.  This position will have the responsibility for implementing effective workplace safety and health programs and assuring compliance in a small to medium unit or management of one or more safety programs in a large to very large unit under the direction of a more senior safety professional. Working Monday - Friday, night shift and weekends  (working a flexible work schedule). Pay rate is $30.00 per hour, for a 40+ hour work week. 

 

Job Duties:

Assist a senior safety professional in development of programs in order to comply with regulatory and company standards.  As appropriate interacts with external agencies as the agent of the unit in both a strategic and tactical role.

Analyzes appropriate Environmental Health Safety (EHS) functional reporting metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.

Assists in developing recommendations for safety processes/programs to attain and sustain a hazard free workplace. This includes design and evaluation of components to monitor effectiveness.

Coordinates safety audits with representatives of safety committees as appropriate, to identify unsafe conditions and actions. Coordinates corrective and preventative processes//actions.

Assures compliance with regulatory agency and company health and safety requirements

Develops, directs and conducts safety presentations and training to promote and sustain awareness.

Leads programs such as "Right to Know Centers" Material Safety Data Sheets( MSDS) and/or appropriate regulatory standards to assure a healthy workplace environment exists.

Reviews new products, equipment, processes and facilities for potential hazards and compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards: making recommendations if necessary prior to introduction.

Job Requirements:

Qualified candidates should have the following:

  - Degree in Business/Management discipline or equivalent experience,( University degree 4 years or equivalent)

  - Degree in Engineering/Technology

  - Degree in Science  or Miscellaneous Degree from a Accredited 4 year University

  - Attributes that are critical to individual and organizational successes, Creating Trust, Engaging and 

  Inspiring, Listening to others, Communicating openly and Analyzing rigorously.

- Investigating skills to determine root causes and conduct trend analysis

- Knowledge of governmental/agency requirements or legislation, occupational health principles, occupational

  safety programs and ergonomic principles, and ability to workplace environments.

- Understanding of regulatory agencys and company standards for injury and illness reporting requirements

  necessary to document incidents.

- Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office plus and internet and intranet functions - Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.

- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrial engineering environments.

- Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.

ellent attendance required, dependable, trustworthy, strong work ethic, respects authority

- 4 -7 years experience in Safety and ergonomics, must follow safety regulations and wear proper safety equipment as job demands( Steel Toe boots a must)
