Electronics Technician at Williston

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:  Employee will maintain and troubleshoot electronic equipment, controls, and computers used in Oilfield operations. Primary Responsibilities include preforming tests, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, and repairs on electronic and electro-mechanical equipment both at the facility and on field locations. 

 

PHYSICAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Frequent Climbing (stairs, ladders, terrain)
  • Frequent lifting (50 pounds)
  • Frequent bending, twisting and standing
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Exposure to fumes/airborne particles
  • Exposure to long hours
  • Exposure to high noise
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions (hot, cold, dust, dirt, noise, fumes, etc.)

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

  • Perform regular and scheduled maintenance on hydraulic fracturing equipment to ensure equipment remains in good working order
  • Perform repairs on equipment as needed in the field and in shop locations using hand and power tools
  • Installation and configuration of electronic and electromechanical equipment and instrumentation
  • Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components
  • Travel to locations to perform emergency repairs on electronics and equipment
  • Diagnose electrical problem and troubleshoot how to correct them using wiring schematics, repair manuals, and part catalogs as necessary
  • Inspect, operate, and test equipment and components to diagnose malfunctions
  • Test equipment at Manufacturers facility to ensure that equipment meets company standards prior to being dispatched to the field
  • Document repairs, inspections, and testing for all equipment
  • Maintains a safe work environment following all QHSE requirements at all times
  • Performs other related duties as requested

 

Job Requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

•  1-3 years of field experience

•  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operations instructions and policies/procedures and communicate this information effectively.  Ability to write reports and simple correspondence and effectively communicate/present information to groups of coworkers, customers, or members of the management team

•  Ability to read blueprints and schematics to perform component troubleshooting

•  Ability to work in a team environment

•  Ability to work with hand and power tools

•  Mechanical aptitude

•  Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week

•  Working together in a positive team environment

•  Ability to operate independently is important

•  Ability to champion a company safety culture

  • Ability to promote safety awareness, follow policies & procedures on quality, health, safety & environment.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of electronic test instruments and tools
  • Extensive knowledge of instrumentation such as flow meters, tranducers, densimeters and controllers
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of hydraulic or hydraulic applications as controlled by electronic components and systems
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical schematics/drawings
  • Networking
  • Radio Communications

 

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical Degree, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • PEC Premier (Preferred)
  • First Aid/CPR (Preferred)
