Key Functions:1. Demonstrates ability to use extensive clinical knowledge and experience to define new processes and procedures; work cooperatively with other departments; identify, escalate and facilitate problem resolution. Demonstrates creative and logical thinking to implement concepts and ideas. Demonstrates ability to analyze situations and make recommendations; manage departmental resources; and function successfully in stressful situations.Effectively leads system-wide cross-functional teams in a matrix reporting structure, as well as establishing collaboration and acceptance of and enthusiasm for changes associated with clinical standardization and evidence based practices initiatives, incorporating education, communication, and change leadership strategies.Partners with the technology collaborative (clinical analysts, technicians, and application vendors), and with MBO clinicians in the evaluation, assessment, and re-design of current clinical processes that will be enabled by the implementation or redesign of advanced clinical systems and the technology solutions for clinician use.Aligns with CHI clinical and technology leaders to assure linkages to overall national goals, directives and initiatives and identification of new process opportunities, and the design of optimized processes utilizing new technologies and applications.Leads design teams in the coordination, integration, and analysis of clinical processes across Catholic Health Initiatives system-wide.2. Demonstrates high level knowledge of healthcare organizations; workflow, processes and procedures; facility needs and functions in providing patient care; health care regulatory agencies and their requirements; clinical information systems.Create re-designed interdisciplinary workflows, optimizing new technologies when available. Outline the gaps in processes and systems to create a new standard model of workflow processes that support the clinicians.Leverages clinical information technology, process design, change management, and evidence to enable improvements in the patient care experience, quality, and financial and regulatory goals, propagate leading practice, and improve the quality and efficacy of clinical care.Leads care area improvement teams through the development and refinement of clinical designs, including process flows, order sets, decision support, analytic reporting, documentation templates and online forms.Responsibilities:- Accountable for activities surrounding establishment and maintenance of organizational clinical standards for use in electronic systems. This will include incorporation of EBP standards for practice, order entry standards for both clinician and physician use, clinical documentation for clinicians and physicians and other standards as directed by Clinical Information Technology plan.
- Coordinates and leads design sessions with market based organizations (MBOs) and ambulatory physician office settings with nursing and clinical process workflow design and optimization.
- Partners with technology colleagues related to standard content for screen design, automated workflow, and technology solutions for clinical use.
Job Requirements
Education- Current Registered Nurse licensure in state of residence.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required or demonstrated evidence of plan for accomplishing within 3 years of hire, and an in-depth advanced clinical base of knowledge as normally obtained through five or more years of related clinical experience.
- Advanced Certification in Nursing Informatics is preferred
- Masters degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in performance improvement tools and methodology, leadership and change acceleration skills with analytic and statistical knowledge to develop evidence-based, data driven improvements in the quality of patient care.
- Prefer experience in clinical documentation or orders designwithin an electronic health record
- Prefer experience with Cerner and /or Meditech
- Exhibits advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to observe, analyze and interpret general, technical and clinical data (verbal and written).
- Excellent behavioral, written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in the use of computer applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, Visio, Project, Live Meeting).
- Proficiency and understanding of The Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid regulations and other regulatory requirements
- Professional manner and appearance.
- Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities while under pressure.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization system-wide. Practices effective listening, interpersonal and team building skills in a diverse workforce.
- Must possess three or more years of experience in managing performance/business process improvement activities, including analyzing clinical workflow processes utilizing PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act), CAP (Change Acceleration Process), or other continuous process improvement methodologies.
- Prior departmental leadership and management experience of people, projects and assignments. is required .
- Travel approximately 25% .
- Work environment is generally an office, but may also include settings such as nursing units, clinic settings, class rooms, and/or meeting halls.
- There may be occasional exposure to contagious diseases, irritant chemicals, electrical hazards, or radioactive substances during visits to nursing units.
